A419 | Wiltshire | Carriageway Closure | Expect Delays
The A419 is currently closed between its junctions with the A4311 and B4040 near Swindon. Please expect delays if you're travelling northbound. This closure is due to a police led incident. Southbound traffic is also being diverted up and over the B4019 junction via the exit and entry slip roads.
For traffic approaching the closure locally, you are advised to expect disruption with extra journey time and may potentially have to re-route your journey.
If travelling towards this area from further afield, you may wish to consider an alternative route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from our on-road variable message signs and media.
Diversion route details and guidance is as follows;
Road users are advised to
follow the ‘solid black diamond’ diversion symbol on road signs. Travelling northbound exit the A419 and take the A4311 southbound then merge immediately with the A4198 towards Haydon. Continue on the A4198 towards Sparcells and merge onto the B4534 (Purton Road). Continue on Purton Road and take the B4553 towards Cricklade. At Cricklade follow signs for the A419 to re-join the northbound carriageway.
