A428 | Cambridgeshire | Road Closed | Both Directions

The A428 is currently closed in both directions from its junctions of the A1198 (Caxton Gibbet) to the A1303 (Madingley) due to a serious road traffic collision. Cambridgeshire Police are currently on scene carrying out investigation work. 
For traffic approaching the closure locally, you are advised to expect disruption with extra journey time and may potentially have to re-route your journey.  
If travelling towards this area from much farther afield, you may wish to change your strategic route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from our on-road variable message signs and media.  
 
Diversion route details and guidance is as follows;
Westbound traffic are asked to follow the Solid triangle symbol:
At the Girton Interchange exit onto the A14 westbound.
Continue on the A14 towards the J24 Godmanchester (A1198) interchange, passing Bar Hill, Fenstanton, Hemingford Grey and Hemingford Abbots.
At J24, Godmanchester (A1198) interchange exit onto the A1198 southbound.
Continue on the A1198, through Papaworth Everade towards the Caxton Gibbet (A1198) Roundabout.
At the Caxton Gibbet (A1198) Roundabout, take the third exit and rejoin the A428.
Eastbound traffic are asked to follow the Hollow circle symbol:
At the A428, Caxton Gibbet (A1198) Roundabout, take the first exit onto the
A1198, northbound. 
Continue on the A1198, through Papaworth Everade. 
At the J24 Godmanchester (A1198) interchange, exit onto the A14
eastbound. 
Continue on the A14, past Hemingford Abbots, Hemingford Grey,
Fenstanton and Bar Hill to the J31 Girton Interchange. 
From the Girton Interchange, drivers can either continue eastbound on the
A14 or head southbound on the M11.
