A27 | East Sussex | Road Closure | Expect Delays

The A27 is currently closed in both directions between the A2270 (Polegate) and the A26 (Beddingham). This closure is due to a serious road traffic collision involving a motorbike. Highways England has resources deployed assisting the emergency services including Sussex Police, who led the response to this incident.

For traffic approaching the closure locally, you are advised to expect disruption with extra journey time and may potentially have to re-route your journey.

If travelling towards this area from further afield, you may wish to consider an alternative route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from our on-road variable message signs and media.

Diversion route details and guidance is as follows;

Westbound diverted traffic is advised to follow the hollow black triangle diversion symbol on road signs. Exit the A27 at the Cophall roundabout onto the A22 northbound. Join the A26 southbound towards Lewes and continue through the Cuilfail tunnel, re-joining the A27 at the Southerham Roundabout.

Eastbound diverted traffic is advised to follow the hollow black diamond diversion symbol on road signs. Exit the A27 at the Southerham roundabout and follow the reverse of the westbound route.
