Small-scale DAB

If you are planning to run a radio station on the growing number of small-scale DAB multiplexes currently being awarded by Ofcom, we have a package just for you.

In any area where a multiplex is already running, or in an area with a service launching soon, Radio Travel News can offer a bespoke bulletin for that area, or for a combined area if two multiplexes are close to each other.

How can I get travel news for my station?

All we need is a minimum of four radio stations on your or adjoining multiplexes to sign up for the Bespoke DAB Bulletin. This offers you a local bulletin but at a mischievous cost.

This service is currently available in:

  • Bristol
  • Manchester
  • Portsmouth
  • London
  • Cambridge
  • Aldershot
  • Brighton & Hove
  • Norfolk
  • Glasgow
  • Birmingham area (inc Dudley)

And will launch soon in:

  • Salisbury and/or Winchester
  • Derry/Londonderry
  • Welsh Valleys
  • Alnwick and Morpeth
  • Bradford and/or Leeds
  • Basingstoke
  • Cardiff
  • East and North Bristol
  • Edinburgh
  • Exeter
  • Inverclyde
  • Kings Lynn
  • Newcastle and Gateshead and/or Tynemouth and South Shields
  • Sheffield and Rotherham

What about other areas?

The Bespoke DAB Bulletin will be available in almost every location where a small-scale DAB multiplex operates.

How much will it cost?

With a minimum of four radio stations subscribing to the service, we can offer a Bespoke DAB Bulletin for £195 per month (VAT not applicable) per station.

This cost is designed to be affordable to each station, and more than covered by a local travel news sponsor.

What will it sound like?

The Bespoke DAB Bulletin will be ‘unbranded’ with no mention of Radio Travel News or any other radio station and will cover the roads and public transport in your area. It will sound like it is your own bulletin and will be updated every 30 minutes from 7am till 9am and 4pm till 7pm inclusive. A national bulletin is provided from 10am till 3pm should you wish to provide an all-day service.

Do I need to be on DAB to take this bulletin?

Not at all. If you run an FM/AM or online service in any of these areas, you can also subscribe.

How do I proceed

In the first instance, fill in this form to let us know you are interested in taking a bulletin on a small-scale DAB multiplex. We’ll then reply to let you know how close we are to launching a service in your area.

I run a multiplex, or I want to help!

If you own a multiplex, we’d love you to send this page to all of your current stations, or if you have won a licence, please include it in your proposals to stations. If you run a station or two on a multiplex, feel free to get in touch with other stations who might be interested in making up the four stations required.
